BHU VC pledges student empowerment, research focus and opportunities
VARANASI, Sept. 7 -- Banaras Hindu University (BHU) vice-chancellor Pro Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi on Saturday assured students of the university's commitment to support their academic and professional growth. Addressing PhD scholars at Swatantrata Bhavan, he said the university will consider their concerns with an open and accommodating approach.
Prof Chaturvedi stressed that the university's research output not only enhances its profile but also contributes to societal transformation. He highlighted ongoing measures to make campus life smoother, allowing students to focus on academics and research.
The vice-chancellor outlined plans to strengthen student support through the Skill Development Cell, Well-Being Services Cell, and Citizenship and Empowerment Cell, designed to prepare students for employment and entrepreneurship. He also announced the renaming of the Training and Placement Cell as the Internship and Placement Cell to provide more targeted professional opportunities. Introduction of student feedback for teaching and curriculum assessment is also in progress.
During the question-and-answer session, scholars raised issues including non-NET Fellowship hikes, hostel facilities, access to research software, and financial assistance for open-access publications. Prof Chaturvedi said the fellowship matter will be referred to the appropriate forum and agreed to work with the faculty to improve software availability.
He underlined the need for continuous communication through proper channels and called on all university members to work together to enhance BHU's reputation.
