BHU marks Premchand's death anniversary
VARANASI, Oct. 9 -- The Faculty of Arts, Banaras Hindu University, commemorated the death anniversary of Munshi Premchand with a special lecture at the Munshi Premchand Memorial and Research Institute in Lamhi. The event, themed "Gandhi and Premchand," delved into the literary, moral, and philosophical connections between the two towering figures.Presiding over the programme, vice-chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said Premchand's writings, rooted in simplicity and moral strength, continue to inspire generations. He described Premchand as a "people's writer" whose works reflect social consciousness and empathy. Chaturvedi suggested that the institute collaborate with universities nationwide, issue an annual event calendar, and develop a comprehensive website to promote Premchand's legacy among researchers globally.
