Bengali community remembers Tagore on his 164th birth anniv
Prayagraj, May 10 -- Bengali Social and Cultural Association (BSCA) paid floral tributes to Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 164th birth anniversary on Friday at Golpark crossing in Tagore Town. Prabhat Pheri (morning march) was also organised from different sides of Golpark by members of Swarbitan Music Society, Sur-O-Shree and Purnima Sammelani, besides students from Jagat Taran Inter College and Jagat Taran Golden Jubilee School at 6am.
Rabindra Sangeet was also rendered by these organisations.
Thereafter, members from various associations, educational institutions, cultural and social organisations, and others paid floral tributes by garlanding his statue. Those present included BSCA president Ashim Mukherjee, corporators Anand Ghildiyal 'Anu' and Shivsewak Singh, and other office bearers and members of BSCA.
In the evening, BSCA, under the auspices of Jagat Taran Education Society, organised a cultural programme based on Tagore's poems and songs titled Anondo Utsob, presented by Swarabitan Music Society at Rabindralaya, Jagat Taran auditorium, informed Shanker Chatterjee, general secretary of BSCA.
Meanwhile, Patanjali Rishikul also celebrated Rabindranath Tagore's Jayanti, with students showcasing their talents through a group song, poetry recitation, instrumental music based on Rabindra Sangeet, and a group dance paying tribute to the Nobel laureate's legacy....
