Bengal, Kerala flag concerns over SIR, claim grave errors
India, Dec. 23 -- West Bengal and Kerala have raised serious concerns over the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in their respective states. While Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee lashed out at the Election Commission alleging that there were "gross errors" in the draft rolls published after the enumeration phase, the Kerala government has written to the poll body saying about 2.5 million voters may have been wrongly excluded. Addressing a meeting of TMC booth level agents (BLAs) in Kolkata, Banerjee dubbed SIR as an exercise "riddled with blunders from top to bottom".
