Lucknow, July 28 -- Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, plans to develop its Amethi Satellite Centre as a Centre of Excellence in Community Engagement and Skill Empowerment, vice chancellor Prof Rajkumar Mittal announced on Sunday. Prof Mittal said the Amethi campus is becoming a vital link between rural youth and mainstream education. He noted a steady rise in applications for undergraduate courses like BA English, BCA Honours, and BA Sociology, with interest growing even beyond Uttar Pradesh. Three new skill-based certification programmes-Diploma in Food Quality and Analysis, Certificate in Food Processing, and Certificate in Bakery and Confectionery-are already empowering local youth with technical skills aligned with local industries. Plans are underway to introduce more programmes in dairy technology, herbal products, rural entrepreneurship, agri-business, and IT services. Facilities at the campus now include smart classrooms, separate hostels for boys and girls, quality mess, labs, innovation centres, and open spaces for sports and cultural events.
