A field survey conducted on April 9 by environmental scientists from BBAU, Lucknow Municipal Corporation officials, and members of the ETF identified multiple pollution concerns affecting the river's ecological balance. The team conducted inspections along several stretches of the Gomti and found critical issues such as unchecked sewage discharge, inadequate sanitation management, and dense growth of invasive water hyacinth. BBAU vice chancellor professor RK Mittal received the report and welcomed the collaborative initiative. "This partnership reflects our shared vision for a cleaner and healthier Gomti. We aim to formalise our collaboration with the ETF through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support sustained research, public awareness, and institutional capacity-building," he said. "We plan to install informative signage along major riverbanks to educate the public on sustainable practices, reduce plastic use, and promote a zero-waste culture," said Major Kanwardeep Nagi, ETF head. BBAU will also support the municipal authorities and ETF in removing biomass waste-primarily the widespread hyacinth growth-through composting and eco-friendly disposal methods....
