Meerut, Sept. 17 -- Bareilly police have arrested a young man for spreading terror in the name of notorious gangsters Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi. The accused, identified as Raj Kashyap alias Anuj, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, Bareilly, had been posting threatening messages and videos on Facebook and Instagram, including a direct threat to shoot a bank manager within 11 days. After receiving multiple complaints from the public, police took swift action, arrested him and sent him to jail. According to police, Raj Kashyap openly abused police officers and threatened the bank manager in gangster-style posts and videos. He wrote in one post, "Whoever stands in the way will sleep in death. Long live Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi." Along with text posts, he uploaded videos and audio clips attempting to portray himself as connected with an organised criminal gang. A senior police officer revealed that the accused posted these threatening messages following the viral news of firing at Bollywood actress Disha Patani's house. He reportedly tried to take advantage of the situation to present himself as a feared criminal figure and boost his image among peers. Police stated that once the accused was arrested, his bravado vanished. During interrogation, he admitted to being addicted to dry drugs. Police records show that he has a history of violent behaviour, having previously attacked his father and brother. Two criminal cases are already registered against him at Baradari police station. Upon learning of the arrest, the accused's wife arrived at the police station with their two young children, pleading with the police to forgive her husband and release him. Baradari police station in-charge Dhananjay Pandey confirmed that an FIR was registered based on the complaint by sub-inspector Jitendra Kumar. The accused has been lodged in the police lockup.
