Barabanki man attemptsself-immolation, rescued
LUCKNOW, Oct. 14 -- A 30-year-old man from Barabanki attempted self-immolation in Gautampalli area on Monday morning, allegedly distressed over police inaction in a case he had lodged earlier this year.
According to officials, the incident took place around 10.30 am when the man poured an inflammable substance and set himself on fire. "Police personnel from Bandariya Bagh outpost, led by sub-inspector Aditya Singh of Gautampalli police station, rushed to the spot and doused the flames," read an official statement.
The man was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital and later referred to the Trauma Centre, where doctors said he sustained around 35% burn injuries.
The individual had lodged a case at a Barabanki police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and an investigating officer had already filed a charge sheet in the matter, said police.
Preliminary inquiry suggests that the man was upset over the non-arrest of an accused in the case, which reportedly stemmed from a personal dispute involving a woman known to him....
