Banned kite string leaves two people injured in city
LUCKNOW, March 6 -- Two people sustained injuries after coming in contact with banned nylon kite strings in separate incidents in the city on Thursday evening, police said.
In the first incident, Ramkhelawan, 54, a resident of Shivpuri near Mal Avenue and an employee in the animal husbandry department, suffered deep cuts on his neck when a kite string got entangled around him in the Hussaingang area.
Police said he was on his way home after getting his cooler repaired when the string struck his neck barely 150 metres from his house, causing him to lose control of his scooter and fall. Local residents rushed him to Civil Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
In a separate incident near Naka bridge, a student, Pranav Yadav, a resident of Sushant Golf City, was riding a motorcycle with friends when a kite string struck his face, leaving deep injuries. His friends took him to Civil Hospital, where doctors stitched the wound. Police said he is out of danger.
Nylon kite strings, often referred to as Chinese kite strings and coated with glass powder, are banned in several areas due to the risk they pose to pedestrians and two-wheeler riders....
