Lucknow, Sept. 18 -- Doctors at Balrampur Hospital, successfully removed a 20-kg abdominal tumour from a 45-year-old woman from Faizabad. The complex surgery, led by senior surgeon Dr SK Saxena, lasted over 2.5 hours. The patient had suffered from swelling, pain, loss of appetite, and weakness for years. Scans at Balrampur Hospital showed a large tumour pressing on her food pipe, intestines, bladder, and rectal passage. The patient was first treated for severe anaemia with blood transfusions. During surgery, the tumour - which had solid and fluid parts - was carefully removed in parts. Dr Saxena called it one of the most complex cases he had handled.
