Ballia bridge takes off, minister left behind!
VARANASI, Aug. 7 -- Uttar Pradesh minister Dayashankar Singh has expressed anger after a newly constructed bridge over a drain in Ballia was inaugurated on Tuesday without informing him, despite his presence in the city.
A video of the incident has gone viral.
The bridge was built after cracks appeared near the old structure on Kathal Nala due to accumulated water hyacinth and heavy traffic pressure. Acting on a report from the Disaster Department, the Public Works Department (PWD) constructed the new bridge.
Upon learning of its opening, Singh, who is the minister of state (independent charge) for transport and the local MLA, rushed to the site with officials and confronted the PWD executive engineer.
"I am in the city. The Ballia Municipal Council chairman is also here. Yet, the bridge was inaugurated without informing either of us. Why wasn't I told?" he said.
Singh further remarked, "I know on whose instructions the PWD officials are working."...
