Lucknow, Nov. 29 -- Bakkas Gram Panchayat in Gosainganj block, under Lucknow district, has emerged as a model of rural cleanliness and self-reliance after achieving ODF Plus status through exemplary solid and liquid waste management, officials said. Its integrated approach, according to them, has not only ensured cleaner surroundings but also generated significant revenue for the Panchayat. Under its waste management initiative, Bakkas established vermicompost pits, compost pits, and NADEP pits. Door-to-door garbage collection is carried out using e-rickshaws and bicycles, for which each household pays a monthly user fee of Rs 30.
