Bail plea of Vikas Dubey's aide rejected in Bikru ambush case
PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 5 -- The Allahabad high court has denied bail to Bablu alias Ballu Musalman alias Islam Beg, who is allegedly linked to gangster Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the 2020 Bikru ambush case that led to the death of eight policemen in Kanpur.
Justice S S Shamshery, while rejecting the bail plea, stated, "I have considered the above submission and considering that the trial is proceeding and further taking note of allegations as well as manner of occurrence, therefore, aforesaid period of incarceration cannot be considered to be a prolong detention, therefore, prayer for bail is rejected."
During the hearing, the applicant's counsel argued that Bablu had been in jail since August 25, 2020, and the trial was yet to be concluded. He contended that the applicant had no direct involvement with the main accused and pointed out that others with similar charges had already been granted bail.
However, opposing the bail plea, the government counsel referred to the seriousness of the allegations, stating that the incident was an open defiance against the police team that went to arrest the accused.
The Bikru ambush took place on the night of July 2, 2020, when eight police personnel, including DSP Devendra Mishra, were killed during a raid at Vikas Dubey's residence in Bikru village, Kanpur.
