Bahraich, Nov. 11 -- A six-year-old boy was injured after being attacked by a wild animal in Tepara village under Mahsi tehsil on Sunday night. The child, Vijay Sharma, son of Deepu Sharma, had gone to collect firewood for a bonfire outside his home when the animal attacked him.

Hearing his screams, his family and neighbours rushed to the spot.
They raised an alarm, forcing the animal to run away into nearby fields. The boy suffered serious injuries to his face. He was taken to the local health centre and later referred to the district hospital.
Doctors said his condition is now stable. After receiving information, a forest department team reached the village and inspected the area. Divisional forest officer (DFO) Bahraich, Ram Singh Yadav, confirmed that the child was attacked by a wild animal and advised villagers to stay alert.
He said the site of the attack is about 40 kilometres from Majhara Taukli in Kaiserganj, where wolf attacks had been reported in recent months.
