Lucknow, Oct. 30 -- Bhadohi to get its own university as Kashi Naresh Government Postgraduate College in Gyanpur (Sant Ravidas Nagar) will be upgraded to Kashi Naresh University, Bhadohi.In a significant move to boost higher education in eastern Uttar Pradesh, the state government has approved the establishment of the new university by reconstituting the existing postgraduate college. According to a government spokesperson, the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973, will be amended to faciliate this change. The government has also prepared a proposal to issue the Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, making necessary modifications to Sections 4, 50, 52, and the schedule of the Act for the formal establishment of the proposed university. Officials said the creation of Kashi Naresh University will expand access to quality higher education for students in Bhadohi district and strengthen academic activities across the Purvanchal region. State higher education minister Yogendra Upadhyay said the government's objective is to ensure that students from rural and backward areas have access to higher education within their own districts, reducing the need to migrate to metropolitan cities.
