LUCKNOW, July 31 -- Even as UP's overall rain deficit is 7 percent, all seven districts of Bundelkhand region have experienced surplus rain during this monsoon season, according to IMD data. District Mahoba has received 139% excess rainfall while Lalitpur got 126% surplus rain, Banda 116% excess rain and Hamirpur 100%. Mahoba received actual rainfall 616.8 mm against normal 257.7 mm, surplus 139%; Lalitpur recorded 842.6 mm rainfall in this monsoon against normal 372.7 mm, which is 126% excess, Banda got 736.5 mm rainfall against normal 340.6 mm, excess 116%. Hamirpur received 627 mm rain against 313.5 mm normal, excess by 100 percent, Chitrakoot got 588.9 mm rainfall, against normal of 357.5 mm, excess 65%, Jhansi received 476 mm against normal 328.4 mm, 45% excess, Jalaun got 423.4 mm against normal 285.4 mm, excess by 48%. UP as a whole received 327.6 mm against normal 350.9 mm, which is 7% deficit. East UP received 297.3 mm rain against normal 378.6 mm, 21% deficit while West UP got 371 mm actual against normal of 312 mm, excess 19%. Lucknow received 9.6 mm rain on Wednesday. For the last couple of days, the city is getting quite a bit of rain but the deficit continues. Lucknow has so far received 230.8 mm rainfall this monsoon season against normal 311.5 mm, deficit 26%. Gorakhpur got 335.8 mm rainfall against normal 596.7 mm, deficit of 44%, Major cities on the banks of the Ganga received excess rainfall. For instance, Kanpur City got 346.1 mm rain against normal 294.8 mm, excess by 17% and Prayagraj got 393.9 mm against normal of 322.4 mm, 22% excess, Varanasi received 427.8 mm against normal 363.8 mm, excess of 18%. Some of the West UP districts like Agra experienced 370.6 mm against normal 235.2 mm, excess 59% and Meerut got 446.5 mm rainfall against normal of 298.8 mm, excess 49%. Forecast for Lucknow is partly cloudy sky becoming generally cloudy with light rain or thundershowers. Maximum and minimum temperature will be around 34 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively. The state forecast is rain/thundershowers very likely at many places over West UP and at few places over East UP....
