Dehradun, Nov. 26 -- A 28-year-old Bangladeshi woman was arrested for residing in the country using forged identity documents, an officer of Dehradun police said on Tuesday, adding that another 41-year-old woman was detained who had entered into India illegally in 2023 and was working as a daily labourer. According to police, the 28-year-old, identified as Babli Khatoon, a resident of Gaibandha in Bangladesh, crossed the border during Covid pandemic, obtained fake documents in India under the name Bhoomi Sharma. She even married a Hindu man in Dehradun while concealing her real identity. A first information report (FIR) was registered against Khatoon under sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and relevant sections of the Passports Act and Foreigners Act. The second woman, identified as Bobby Khatoon, who entered India illegally in 2023, will be deported soon as per the Government of India guidelines, the police said. The police recovered several fake Indian documents including a Bangladeshi ID from Babli Khatoon. From Bobby, a photocopy of a Bangladeshi passport was recovered in her name, the officer said. Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ajai Singh said: "Under the statewide Operation Kalanemi, Patel Nagar Kotwali police received information on Monday about two Bangladeshi women staying illegally in different locations within the police station area." "In the first case, police detained a woman, identified as Babli Khatoon from Dehra Khas, Patel Nagar. A case was registered against her, and she was arrested," he said. "In the second case, police detained another woman from Kargi Road, Kalinda Vihar Phase 2. She identified herself as Bobby Khatun, a resident of Bogura district in Bangladesh.
