Azamgarh police launch Gram Chaupal to combat cyber fraud
VARANASI, Jan. 8 -- A 'Gram Chaupal' campaign was launched by Azamgarh police in Kolpandey village on Wednesday to make locals aware of how to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud and criminals. The initiative, aimed at preventing cyber crimes by educating villagers, was conducted under the Kotwali Police Station area at the instruction of senior superintendent of police, Anil Kumar.
Cyber security experts participated in the first chaupal to inform residents on ways to avoid the trap of cyber criminals, according to circle officer Shubham Todi.
Todi advised locals not to share personal details, bank account information, passwords, PIN, CVV, or OTP (One-Time Password) with anyone via phone, email, or message, even if the person claims to be from a bank or a government agency.
The circle officer further warned the locals to avoid clicking on unknown or unverified links and attachments in emails, text messages, or social media, as they may contain malware or lead to phishing sites. The locals also asked not to trust unsolicited offers. He further highlighted the issue saying that do not fall for digital arrest scams.
