Azamgarh man damages Ambedkar statue, gives false complaint
VARANASI, Dec. 20 -- A case has been registered against a man who allegedly damaged the finger of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's statue himself and then gave false information to falsely implicate another person, said police on Friday.
Police stated that on December 18, 2025, Sarai Mir police station received information about damage to the finger of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's statue. The complaint was lodged by Sarvesh Gautam and Umesh, residents of Katghar Jalal, who accused Sandeep Chauhan of Chhoti Sadwaha.
Following an immediate police investigation, including the review of video footage and other evidence, it was revealed that Sarvesh had damaged the statue's finger himself and provided false information to implicate Sandeep Chauhan.
A case has been registered against the individual who provided the false information, and appropriate legal action is being taken, said police....
