Ayodhya's Rawat temple sealed, seers protest
AYODHYA, Oct. 19 -- Following the death of Mahant Ram Milan Das under suspicious circumstances at Rawat temple on October 11, Ayodhya police sealed the entire temple, including the dharamshala and all rooms within the premises late Friday evening.
The action was taken in the presence of a magistrate.
On Saturday, seers expressed outrage, accusing the police of colluding with influential individuals to forcibly occupy the temple.
Angered seers have threatened to boycott Deepotsav, while a temple priest has commenced a hunger strike.
Meanwhile, several Mahants from Ayodhya, including Parshuram Das, Ram Das Balyogi, Kamla Das Ramayani, and Pahalwan Anand Das, gathered at Rawat temple, located at the Ramghat intersection of Ayodhya Kotwali, Sant Balaknath, to protest the action of the police and administration. They demanded that two rooms be opened for the seers residing there to ensure that worship and offerings were not disrupted.
The post-mortem report indicated heart attack as the cause of death. However, suspicion deepened following the discovery of over Rs.9.5 crore in Mahant Ram Milan Das's bank account by police....
