Auto driver dies after vehicle overturns in Malihabad
LUCKNOW, Oct. 15 -- A 25-year-old auto-rickshaw driver lost his life after a shard of broken glass pierced his neck when his vehicle overturned near a canal in Malihabad late on Monday night. Two passengers, travelling with driver Mukesh, 25, and Ajay, 22, sustained minor injuries and were discharged after first aid, police said.
The accident occurred around 1:05 am near Bhadesaramau village, when the auto-rickshaw lost control along the canal track. Police suspect the vehicle overturned after hitting a pothole on the uneven road.
"The driver, identified as Bhupendra Yadav, a resident of Kedaura village under Mal police station limits, suffered a deep neck injury caused by the shattered windshield. He was rushed to the Community Health Centre in Malihabad, where doctors declared him dead," a police statement said.
The body has been taken into police custody and sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway....
