AU EC nominates two names for VC search committee
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 13 -- The process for appointing the next vice chancellor of the Allahabad University (AU) has accelerated, with three senior faculty members- including the incumbent vice chancellor (VC) - submitting their applications for the top post.
The applicants include serving VC Prof Sangita Srivastava, Dean of Arts Prof VK Rai, and Dean of Commerce Prof RS Singh.
Officials aware of the development confirmed that during the university's executive council meeting held under Prof Sangita Srivastava on Sunday, discussions were held regarding the nomination of two members to the search committee that will be formed by the Union ministry of education for selecting the new VC.
All three applicants for the VC position voluntarily recused themselves from the discussions to maintain ethical standards.
Following deliberations, the council finalised two names to be proposed for the search committee and which will now be forwarded to the education ministry.
Prof Sangita Srivastava, the first permanent woman vice chancellor of Allahabad University, will complete her tenure on November 29, 2025. She is also the second permanent vice chancellor of AU to complete a full term since the university attained central university status in 2005.
