Atiq gang linked to plotting on attached properties; probe on
PRAYAGRAJ, June 9 -- The gang allegedly linked to slain mafia brothers Atiq Ahmed and Khalid Azim alias Ashraf resumed plotting on 16 illegal properties that were attached in Prayagraj's Kathaula Gauspur village under the Gangster Act in 2020, police said.
As soon as the matter came to light on Saturday, a joint team of the police and revenue department reinstalled the notice boards on the properties. Based on a complaint by Rahimabad police outpost incharge Brahmesh Mishra, a case has been registered against unidentified accused at the Airport police station, officials said.
According to Mishra, the properties attached following a court order were found to have been sold by individuals believed to be members of the Atiq gang. The accused fled during a raid by police and revenue officials. An FIR has been registered and investigations are underway. A report on the action taken has also been sent to the Sadar SDM.
Airport SHO Vinay Singh confirmed that a case has been registered based on Mishra's complaint.
The properties were originally attached in 2020 by Dhoomanganj police. The notice boards have been re-installed on 16 plots in Mauja Kathaula, Gauspur.
