LUCKNOW, Dec. 25 -- Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly on Wednesday, the last day of the winter session, cleared the supplementary budget of Rs 24496.98-crore government, which is 3.03% of the total annual budget of 2025-26 of Rs.808736.06 crore. The budget was brought to meet immediate revenue requirements, while simultaneously boosting capital investment to strengthen the infrastructure sector. After the discussion on the supplementary budget, it was passed with a voice vote. After deducting the central share of Rs 2,197.24 crore to be received for centrally sponsored schemes, the net additional burden on the state's consolidated fund would be Rs 22,299.74 crore. Finance minister Suresh Khanna, who tabled the budget, said, "The supplementary budget has a provision of Rs.18,369 crore for revenue expenditure and Rs.6,127 crore for capital expenditure." The supplementary budget focused upon industrial development, energy, health, and urban development with major share to these departments. Industrial development got Rs.4,874 crore while power got Rs.4,521 crore and Rs.3,500 crore for health and family welfare and Rs.423.80 crore for medical education. Government in supplementary budget has kept Rs.1,758.56 crore for urban development, with an emphasis on urban infrastructure while Rs.639.96 crore are for technical education, for promoting skills and innovation, and Rs.535 crore for women and child development.
