Assailants shoot at 2 friends, 2 passersby also hurt
PRAYAGRAJ, June 17 -- Assailants opened fire at two friends in Karela Bazar under the Kotwali police station area of Pratapgarh, on Monday evening.
Escaping from the scene, the miscreants fired in the air, which injured two passers-by too. Police got the passers-by treated at a local hospital, besides sending both the friends to CHC Patti where doctors referred them to the medical college. From the medical college, they were referred to Prayagraj for treatment.
SP, Pratapgarh, Dr Anil Kumar, reached the medical college and took information about the incident. He also formed police teams to search for the attackers.Ikhlaq Ahmed, 32, resident of Pure Devjani village under Kandhai police station area, was sitting with his friend, Nawab Ali, 40, of the same village at a shop in Karela Bazaar, under the Patti police station area on Monday evening.
The shop is just 100 meters away from the police post. Suddenly seven to eight people arrived in two cars and started arguing with both of them over some issue.
The argument escalated and people shot Nawab in his leg. They also tried to run him over with a car. When Ikhlaq ran, he was also shot at, and was injured in the hand. After shooting both Ikhlaq and Nawab, the attackers fled from the scene in the car, breaking the barrier of the Karela police post.
While running away, the miscreants also fired, injuring passers-by Arpit Patel, 16 and Mohammad Sohail, 22.
According to Pratapgarh SP Dr Anil Kumar, the attackers are said to be from the village of the injured. Police teams have been deployed to identify the accused and arrest them. htc...
