Ahmedabad, Aug. 25 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday once again underlined the importance of "swadeshi" goods (domestic products), as he called upon Indians to ensure "not a single foreign product" arrives in their houses. His remarks come amid the ongoing tariff tensions with the US. Modi, who was virtually addressing a public event after the inauguration of the Phase 2 of the Sardar Dham Girls Hostel in Ahmedabad, referred to his Independence Day speech, in which emphasised self-reliance. "We have to lead this movement. We must decide that henceforth, in our house, not a single foreign product will arrive," he said. Modi urged businesses to display signs saying only Indian products are sold in their shops. "I want to tell the businessmen that we should now put up a board saying that 'My shop sells only swadeshi products. Those who want to buy swadeshi should come to my shop.'
