Army naik held for 17-yr-old's brutal murder
PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 18 -- Two days after a 17-year-old girl was found dead in Lakhrawan village of this district, police on Monday arrested an army personnel for her brutal murder, they said.
The minor, who was a Class 11 student from Bankat (Soraon), was found buried on the banks of the Mansaita river in the village. The post-mortem report confirmed that she was stabbed seven times, once on the head and six times on the neck. She had been living with her uncle, who is also an army man, in New Cantonment.
As per the police, the minor and accused Harshvardhan Singh alias Deepak, an army naik posted in Patiala, got in touch on Instagram. Although Deepak was engaged to be married, he reportedly received a marriage proposal from the minor. He killed her after she found out about his wedding plans. He stabbed her repeatedly with a knife and buried her body in a pit dug with a shovel taken from a nearby temple.
Police arrested the accused near Kusungur village and recovered the knife and shovel used in the murder.
DCP (City) Manish Kumar Shandilya and DCP (trans-Ganga) Kuldeep Singh Gunawat said the 11th grader went missing on the morning of November 10 while on her way to school. During interrogation, Deepak revealed that he and the 17-year-old texted each other on Instagram....
