LUCKNOW, July 9 -- Thieves allegedly broke into the office of former municipal councillor Anwar Ali in Chandan village under Khurram Nagar outpost within Indira Nagar police station limits and decamped with Rs.15 lakh in cash and two licensed revolvers late on Monday night, police said. According to initial reports, the accused entered the office by dismantling the air-conditioner unit. The office was found ransacked early Tuesday morning. ACP, Ghazipur (Indiranagar), Anindya Vikram Singh said a case had been registered and investigation was ongoing. However, the amount of cash stolen was yet to be verified, he added. Locals alleged that Chandan village and nearby areas had witnessed a spurt in theft incidents of late. They also said the police response had been lacklustre despite repeated complaints.HTC...
