Haridwar, Aug. 23 -- The Haridwar district administration has widened its anti-encroachment drive to include inner-city markets and road stretches, following last month's stampede on the stairway route to Mata Mansa Devi temple. After clearing alleged illegal occupations in and around the temple premises, municipal corporation teams have now shifted focus to the city periphery. On Friday, a special anti-encroachment squad removed unauthorized structures along the Chandracharya Square-Prem Nagar Ashram bridge stretch.
