April honorarium of 406 panchayat sahayaks stopped in Prayagraj dist
PRAYAGRAJ, May 25 -- Honorarium of 406 panchayat sahayaks of the district has been stopped for the month of April for failing to mark their online attendance. The action has been taken on the orders of district panchayati raj officer (DPRO) Ravi Shankar Dwivedi. "If there is no improvement, there will be continuous deduction in honorarium," the official warned.
As per officials, the attendance of panchayat sahayaks has been made online. They are required to go to their respective panchayat bhawans and mark their attendance. Some panchayat sahayaks are allegedly ignoring it despite the directives.
The DPRO said every sahayak had been informed about this earlier, and when there was no improvement, the data of sahayaks not following instructions was extracted. "Honorarium of 406 such people has been stopped. At present, 1,400 panchayat sahayaks are posted in the district," he shared.
During Covid, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had directed recruitment of panchayat assistants to make gram panchayat function as a mini-secretariat.
At that time, people from the village were posted on this post, so that the work of the panchayats could be simplified. Each panchayat assistant is given an honorarium of Rs 6000 per month....
