LUCKNOW, Nov. 20 -- An enforcement drive by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) in the Sitapur Road area, close to Purania, on Wednesday turned tense after a crowd allegedly confronted officials checking for littering and banned single-use polythene, leading the civic body to file an FIR. A team led by zonal sanitary officer Manoj Yadav, acting on the municipal commissioner's directives, moved through Sitapur road (Zone 3) with sanitation and food inspectors, supported by 296 enforcement personnel, to inspect shops and commercial establishments across multiple pockets of the city, according to an LMC press release. Officials said several shopkeepers were found using banned polythene, prompting objections from some traders. A crowd soon gathered and allegedly attempted to obstruct the team.
