Anti-corruption team attacked at PDA office
PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 10 -- An anti-corruption team was attacked allegedly by departmental employees at the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) office on Tuesday. The incident occurred when the team was apprehending a junior assistant in the act of accepting a bribe, said officials.
According to reports, the anti-corruption team had caught junior assistant Ajay Kumar red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs.8,000 as bribe. The accused was being taken into custody when some PDA employees allegedly tried to rescue him by confronting and attacking the trap team.
Despite the assault, the team successfully arrested Ajay Kumar and handed him over to the Civil Lines police, who have registered a case. Police are now working to identify the attackers using CCTV footage.
The incident goes back to 2021 when Pranendra Pandey, a resident of Tharwai's Korasand Gahri, was allotted a plot in PDA's Shantipuram residential scheme in Phaphamau through a lottery. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he could not complete the required legal formalities at that time.
Recently, while attempting to complete the registration process, Ajay Kumar allegedly demanded Rs.8,000 as a bribe. Acting on Pranendra Pandey's complaint, the anti-corruption team, led by inspector Rajesh Bahadur Singh, laid a trap at the PDA office around 2.30 pm on Tuesday and caught the junior assistant in the act.
Civil Lines SHO Ramashray Yadav confirmed that an FIR has been lodged against Ajay Kumar based on the anti-corruption team's report, and legal action will also be taken against those who attacked the team post investigation....
