ANTF to get more than 150 new officers
LUCKNOW, Dec. 14 -- The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of UP Police is set to get more than 150 new officers as the state government aims to bolster the crackdown on drug trafficking, as per a communique issued by the state government's media cell on Saturday.
At present, all of its personnel are on deputation. While they will all be made permanent, the move also seeks to address the manpower shortage in the ANTF. "Along with strengthening the ANTF, the move will also expedite action against drug traffickers," a senior police official said.
ANTF inspector general (IG) Abdul Hamid said: "Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had formed the ANTF in 2022 to crack down on illegal drugs in the state and take the strictest action against drug mafias. During this time, six police stations and eight units were formed. The sanctioned strength for each police station is 28."
The sanctioned posts include an inspector, four sub-inspectors, three computer operators, three head constables, 12 constables, two constable drivers, and three Class IV employees. Similarly, the sanctioned strength for each unit is 18. The posts include one deputy superintendent of police, one inspector, two sub-inspectors, one computer operator, two head constables, eight constables, two constable drivers, and two Class IV employees.
The IG said that the total sanctioned strength was 386. The posts included 15 gazetted officers, 59 officials at the headquarters, 168 others at six police stations, and 144 at eight units. "Out of them, 236 positions have been filled, and another 150 positions are vacant. Following the CM's instructions, all vacant positions will be filled soon," he added....
