BAHRAICH, Dec. 15 -- The forest department on Sunday shot dead another wolf in the Kaiserganj area of Bahraich district following fresh sightings reported by villagers, officials said. This is the second wolf killed in the area within two days as part of ongoing operations. Assistant conservator of forests (ACF) Rashid Jameel said villagers spotted the wolf on Sunday afternoon in Jarwa hamlet of Godahiya No 4 under Kaiserganj. Locals chased the animal, forcing it into nearby sugarcane fields. A forest department team rushed to the spot and launched a search. According to officials, forest shooters later surrounded the wolf in a riverine area in the evening. Attempts were made to rescue the animal but when it tried to flee, a shooter opened fire. The wolf died on the spot. With the latest action, a total of six wolves have been killed in the area. Officials said that since September 9 this year, wolf attacks in the district have resulted in the deaths of 10 children and an elderly couple....
