Another suspect in Rs.3.6 crore copper wire loot arrested
PRAYAGRAJ:, Aug. 11 -- A murder suspect who also looted copper wire worth Rs 3 crore with the help of his accomplices on May 16 was finally arrested on Sunday, police said. Six others had previously been caught and jailed in connection with the incident at Kakodha in Kaushambi.
Harkiran Bind, a wanted criminal with a Rs 25,000 reward on him, and his band reportedly murdered trailer truck driver Sabarmal, who was transporting the copper wire from Gujarat to Subedarganj railway station in Prayagraj.
After the killing, the criminals made away with the trailer, which itself was worth an estimated Rs.60 lakh.
Superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar confirmed that one of the suspects in the case, Santosh Rajbhar from Porai Khurd in Jaunpur, was killed on May 20 in a police encounter. Six other accomplices had already been put in jail. Recently, rewards were declared for the remaining two absconding suspects.
On Sunday morning, Bind, who hails from Jaunpur district, was caught near the Sihori Ganga bridge, said Karari SHO Siyakant Chaurasia.
Efforts were ongoing to locate the final absconding suspect....
