Another cop nabbed in Firozabad cash loot case
Agra, Oct. 9 -- Head constable Manoj Kumar posted at police lines in Agra Police Commissionerate was arrested for his involvement in Rs two crore cash loot case in Makanpur area of Firozabad on September 30. He is the second policeman to be arrested after Ankur Pratap Singh of GRP Agra was nabbed on Tuesday.
SSP Firozabad Saurabh Dixit said that Manoj Kumar was arrested on Wednesday and Rs 5 lakh was recovered from him. Hailing from Mainpuri, head constable Manoj Kumar was on duty at the police lines in Agra. He was arrested from Firozabad,
Manoj Kumar (38) had been on duty in Makhanpur in the past and has a house there in Nagla Turkiye. Another accused cop Ankur Pratap Singh had been appointed after his father, a police personnel, who was killed on duty.
Names of these two cops had come to light during the investigation. It was found that both cops, now behind bars, were having advance information of the loot and had gone to Delhi on September 30 and came back with cash Rs 5 lakh each.
These cops had assured the gang members to keep them updated about registering of cases, police action and acted as 'insiders' for criminals.
It may be recalled that on September 30, armed criminals had intercepted a cash management company's vehicle, attacked the driver Danji Patel, tied him up, and fled with Rs.2 crore after throwing the injured driver on Yamuna Expressway connecting Agra with Noida.
Firozabad SSP Saurabh Dixit announced the recovery of over Rs.1 crore, along with illegal arms, receipts of iPhone and motorcycle purchases, and other incriminating material.
Three of the accused, including mastermind Naresh, carried rewards of Rs.25,000 each. Naresh offered to get more cash recovered but in the process absconded....
