Agra, Feb. 10 -- Three people were arrested after a case was registered against 35 named and 40 unidentified accused for staging protest and creating ruckus at a police station in Mursan town of Hathras district following the death of a three-year-old child in a road accident on Sunday afternoon. Superintendent of police (Hathras) Chiranjeev Nath Sinha said that an accident took place on Sunday afternoon when a three-year-old child was hit by a four-wheeler. "The deceased, identified as Yash, was rushed for treatment. The driver and his associate in the SUV were taken into custody and the vehicle was seized," said Sinha. "Unfortunately the child could not be saved and died during treatment at a hospital in Hathras. The family members of the deceased gathered at Mursan police station and staged a road blockade. They demanded that the driver and his associate should be handed over to them so that they can punish them for the alleged killing," added Sinha. "The police officials appealed for peace through loudspeakers and asked the angry mob to stay calm. The family members were informed that both driver and associate were arrested and are facing legal consequences and it was not possible to entertain their demand to hand them over. Thus the mob resorted to violence," he said. "Some anti-social elements present in the mob moved towards the railway line and began pelting stones on Mursan police station. Few of the policemen in the police station got hurt and a case was registered against the accused. Three were identified and arrested while efforts are on to trace others and arrest them for causing ruckus," added SP Hathras who claimed that the situation was calm....
