AGRA, Dec. 6 -- Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) won the North Zone Inter- University Cricket Championship, defeating Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi, in the final held at the Willingdon Pavilion on the AMU premises. BCCI vice president Rajiv Shukla, who attended as the chief guest, presented the winners' trophy to the AMU captain during a ceremony on Thursday evening. Opting to bat first, JMI were bowled out for 138 in 29.2 overs despite contributions from Imadul Hasan Khan (42), M Kaif (23) and Bhavya Tiwari (22). AMU's skipper Mohammad Sibtain took 3/24 and support from Rinku Ghanghass, Usaid, Saksham Kaim and Hitesh Kumar. AMU chased down the target, reaching 143/3 in 15.2 overs. Opener Chirag Sharma powered the innings with a blistering 62 off 35 balls, backed by quick knocks from Rinku Ghanghass (25), Anuj Prem Rajput (23), and useful contributions from Madhav Vashistha and captain Sibtain. JMI captain Maaz Sherwani claimed two wickets. At the prize distribution ceremony, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla presented the winners' trophy to AMU captain Mohammad Sibtain and the runners-up trophy to JMI captain Maaz Sherwani.
