AGRA, Aug. 12 -- The Department of Urdu, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), will hold its annual mushaira on August 14 at the University Polytechnic Auditorium as part of the university's Independence Day celebrations. Chairman of the department, Prof Mohammad Quamrul Hooda Faridi, said AMU vice-chancellor Prof Naima Khatoon will preside over the event, which will feature eminent poets from across the country alongside leading voices from Aligarh. Poets from outside the city include Prof Shahpar Rasool, Salma Shaheen, Farhat Ehsas, and Shafaq Sopori. Aligarh's literary community will be represented by Prof Gahzanfar, Prof Mahtab Haider Naqvi, Prof Shahabuddin Saqib, Dr Arif Hasan Khan, Khursheed Alam, Dr Naseem Alam, and others. htc...
