AMU student arrested for firing on campus
Agra, Nov. 11 -- A graduation student at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was arrested for allegedly firing an illegal firearm after a dispute with another group over playing on the basketball court on the AMU campus here, police said.
Along with Mohd Junaid, three others were also booked in the case after a video of the incident was shared on social media.
The AMU administration took note of the incident that took place on November 7 and the video showing Junaid flaunting firearms while fleeing from the spot.
Junaid, a student of BA (Sociology), was suspended, confirmed AMU proctor Prof Mohd Wasim Ali on Monday.
'A case was registered against four of the accused on November 8, and search was on for the accused. One of them was identified as Mohd Junaid alias Minto, who was arrested on Sunday and is to be presented before a court on Monday. Search is on for others seen in the video," stated CO (III) Aligarh Sarvam Singh.
"In case any other student is found involved, he shall face action, too," said the proctor, adding that at least two of those named in the case were outsiders....
