AMU celebrates lifetime honour to Zafar Iqbal
Agra, March 31 -- Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) celebrated the honour conferred on its distinguished alumnus, Zafar Iqbal, who was recently presented the Hockey India Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 in New Delhi for his outstanding contribution to Indian hockey.
Vice chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon termed the recognition a moment of pride for the AMU fraternity, noting that Iqbal's leadership and sporting excellence continue to inspire young players.
Alumni Affairs Committee chairman Prof. Sartaj Tabassum also congratulated him.
A 1980 Moscow Olympics gold medallist and former India captain, Iqbal has received the Arjuna Award, Yash Bharti and Padma Shri, and has served the sport as coach, selector and mentor....
