Amroha man gets life in 12-yr-old murder case
Meerut, May 19 -- A local court in Amroha district has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for fatally shooting a 23-year-old man in 2013. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.50,000 on the convict, while acquitting two others due to insufficient evidence.
The judgment was delivered on Saturday by additional district and sessions judge (III) Nasima Khanam 12 years after the case sent shockwaves through Fatehpur Dev in Amroha's Saidangali area. Mohd Imran, the son of a farmer, from Fatehpur Dev had returned home from Bihar in August 2013 to celebrate Eid with his family. On August 10, Imran left his house with another local Rifaqat.
Three days later, Imran's bullet-riddled body was found in a sugarcane field in the nearby Mannikheda village.
Based on his family's statement, police booked Rifaqat, his cousin Ghulam (from Sabiranpur village in Asmoli police station area), and Ghulam's friend Qasim for their involvement. The police later recovered a 12-bore country-made pistol and an empty cartridge. All three accused were arrested and sent to jail but were later released on bail during the trial. htc...
