LUCKNOW/GORAKHPUR, Dec. 8 -- In view of the ongoing flight crisis that has disrupted air travel and left thousands of passengers stranded, the Lucknow division of Northern Railway (NR) has announced a special one-trip superfast train between Varanasi (BSB) and New Delhi (NDLS) to handle the sudden surge in demand. "Train No. 04207/04208 will run ex-Varanasi on December 8 and ex-New Delhi on December 9, providing temporary but crucial relief for travellers struggling to secure seats on overloaded regular trains and cancelled or delayed flights," according to a railways order issued by NR. Railway officials said the decision was taken to ensure comfortable and reliable connectivity during the crisis. The special train will include 3AC, 2AC and sleeper coaches, and will cover major stations including Maa Belha Devi Dham/Pratapgarh, Amethi, Lucknow, Bareilly, Moradabad and Ghaziabad. According to the schedule, Train 04207 will depart Varanasi at 16:50 hrs and reach New Delhi at 05:15 hrs, while Train 04208 will leave New Delhi at 23:30 hrs and arrive in Varanasi the next morning at 12:55 hrs. "The special superfast train will provide much-needed convenience to travellers," senior divisional commercial manager Kuldeep Tiwari said. Meanwhile, the Railways has introduced special trains from Gorakhpur to Mumbai and Delhi while UPSRTC has almost doubled the number of buses running between Gorakhpur and Delhi to help stranded passengers reach their destinations. Chief public relations officer Manoj Kumar Singh said the services include Train No. 05587 from Gorakhpur to Mumbai (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus), departing on December 7 at 11.25pm, and Train No. 05591 from Gorakhpur to Anand Vihar (Delhi), departing on December 7 and 8 at 6pm.
