Jhansi, June 4 -- A video has gone viral in Jhansi in which an ambulance driver is seen carrying an unclaimed body on his shoulder inside the cremation ground where he is performing the last rites also. The video which has shaken the conscience of many is said to be of a man from Chirgaon who was admitted to Jhansi Medical College almost a fortnight ago as an 'unknown patient'. During treatment he succumbed. As per chief medical superintendent of the medical college Dr Sachin Mahour, the patient was admitted on May 11 in the ICU and he died on May 13. Some people had come to claim the body but could not verify their relationship with the patient and therefore the body was not handed over to them. "After no one further came to claim the body, we got it cremated after performing the postmortem," he said. As the body had started decomposing and stinking, no one was ready to go with it and ultimately it was handed over to the ambulance driver who took it to Baragaon Gate cremation ground. Here he had to carry the body on his shoulders for almost hundred metres from the main gate and then he himself performed the last rites. Someone filmed the incident and uploaded it on social media. SP city Gyanendra Kumar Singh said that the cremation was performed in the presence of a police constable and as per the procedure. htc...
