Ambedkar's life an example of struggle, foresight: BHU VC
VARANASI, April 15 -- The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) vice-chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said that the life of Baba Saheb Dr BR Ambedkar is a unique example of struggle, foresight and vision. Speaking at a seminar on "Dr BR Ambedkar: Role of Education, Justice and Equality in Inclusive India" on Tuesday, Prof Chaturvedi stated that Dr. Ambedkar's role in making the Constitution provided the nation with a strong foundation of equal opportunity, freedom of expression and social justice.
Prof Chaturvedi, who presided over the seminar, further noted that Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar emerged from difficult circumstances to establish a distinct place for himself through education. He highlighted Dr. Ambedkar's "extremely significant" contribution as the chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution. The vice-chancellor emphasised the importance of "Pragmatism and Constructive Criticism," saying that practical thinking and positive criticism are essential for the development of society.
As chief guest, UP additional chief secretary Mukesh Kumar Meshram said that education is the true medium of revolution, transforming society through ideas. He inspired the youth towards positive thinking, self-awareness and recognising their potential, while emphasising self-reliance and dreaming big for building an inclusive society.
Keynote speaker Prof MP Ahirwar, guest of honour Prof SN Sankhwar, programme convenor and Prof B Ram have also addressed the seminar. During the event, ARHAT Foundation provided scholarships to 10 students from underprivileged sections of society. Registrar of the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, Dr. Sunita Chandra, was also present....
