LUCKNOW, Dec. 7 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress leaders paid tributes to Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvana Diwas (death anniversary), at the party office on Saturday. Addressing the memorial meeting, Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra said that Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was not only the architect of the Constitution, but also the greatest champion of social justice, equality, human rights, and education. "He dedicated his entire life to ensuring respect, rights, and recognition for the weak, deprived, and marginalised communities," Mishra said. Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee's scheduled caste department, Tanuj Punia, said Baba Saheb performed historic, multifaceted, and revolutionary work for the uplift, respect, rights, and social justice of Dalits in India. "He not only created a social movement but also gave a new direction to the lives of Dalits through law, education, politics, and organisational efforts," Punia said at the memorial meeting. Deputy leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, Pramod Tiwari, national spokesperson and former MLA, Akhilesh Pratap Singh, and other leaders offered floral tributes to the portrait of Dr Ambedkar. Congress leaders said Baba Saheb played a key role in strengthening workers' rights, minimum wages, worker protection, and labour laws.
