Almora Protest deferred after CM's assurance
Dehradun, Dec. 2 -- Local residents protesting over "poor" healthcare facilities in Chaukhutia of Almora district since October deferred their protest for 20 days after an assurance from chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami through video call on Sunday.
CM Dhami said that the token funds required to upgrade the local Community Health Centre (CHC) to sub-district hospital would be released soon.
He also said that specialist doctors would be deployed there on a priority basis to strengthen health services in the region. "....concrete steps are being taken at the departmental level to address all the legitimate demands of the Chaukhutia region, and their impact will be clearly visible in the coming days," Dhami said.
He said that overall development of the region is his priority.
The protest, led by former soldier Bhuvan Kathayat, was an extension of the "Operation Swasthya" protest, which began on October 2 in Chaukhutia....
