AKTU exec council nod to emerging courses
LUCKNOW, Sept. 3 -- Now emerging courses will be taught to students in four new government engineering colleges affiliated to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) so that students may learn about new technology. These are government engineering colleges of Basti, Gonda, Pratapgarh and Mirzapur districts.
The executive council of AKTU on Tuesday approved new emerging courses in these four colleges. It also approved that a total of 88 medals, including 37 gold, 26 silver and 25 bronze, will be given away in the upcoming 23rd convocation of the technical university on September 9.
Besides, the proposals of the previous finance committee were given a nod in the meeting where a budget of around Rs 142 crore was discussed.
The most important among these was the proposal of a Rs 54 crore budget for the constituent institute of the university, Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Lucknow. With this budget, the IET will be developed as a centre of quality education equipped with modern technology.
During the inspection of the NAAC committee, it was suggested to set up a centre of excellence in the university. In this sequence, the proposal to set up Dharohar (A Repository for Indian Knowledge System IKS Centre) in the faculty of architecture and planning was approved. A budget of Rs 50 lakh has been fixed for it.
Besides, many proposals for the welfare of the teachers and non-teaching staff of the university and constituent institutes were also approved. Budget was also fixed for the BTech course that started for the first time in the university campus.
Vice chancellor Prof Rajiv Kumar; IET director Prof Vineet Kansal; principal, faculty of architecture and planning, Prof Vandana Sehgal and other members were present during the meeting....
