LUCKNOW, Aug. 14 -- The academic council of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) on Wednesday approved key proposals, including the launch of BTech curriculum at the Centre for Advanced Studies and formation of a Board of Studies for the course. The meeting was chaired by AKTU vice-chancellor professor JP Pandey. The university will introduce BTech in four branches. The council also approved granting a cumulative professional development allowance of Rs.3 lakh for three years to faculty members of constituent colleges to promote research. This allowance will help teachers present research papers at seminars in India and abroad. A proposal to include industry-led minor courses in BTech to prepare students as per the needs of the industry was also approved by the academic council. The minor courses aim at imparting knowledge to the students about modern technology and other skills. Besides, the proposal to provide PG students in the constituent institutions with stipends was also approved. Under the 'Earning While Learning' scheme, the students will be offered up to Rs.10,000 per month. The beneficiaries will have to contribute other activities besides working in labs. The council also approved the proposal to conduct the carryover examination in the MCQ format. The question paper will be made keeping in mind the equivalence of the theory paper....
