Akhilesh: What about castebias ingrained for 5000 years?
Lucknow, Sept. 23 -- Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has taken a dig at the Uttar Pradesh government order to remove caste from FIRs and signboards.
The UP government issued the directive in compli- ance with an Allahabad high court order dated September 16.
In a social media post on Monday, Yadav wrote, ".And what will be done to eliminate the caste discrimination that has been ingrained in our minds for 5,000 years? And what will be done to eliminate caste discrimination stemming from the display of caste through clothing, costumes, and symbols?... And what measures will be taken to end the caste-based discrimination of having someone's house washed?"
Earlier in the day, Maharaja Agrasen's birth anniversary was celebrated at the Samajwadi Party's state headquarters in Lucknow. Yadav paid homage to Maharaja Agrasen by garlanding his portrait on the occasion.
In his address, Yadav said that due to the BJP government's wrong policies, trade and business have collapsed.
"The public is suffering due to inflation, injustice, and oppression," he said. Yadav further stated that illegal trade was growing rapidly....
